Is it possible to only block "unknown" callers and not "restricted", "private", or "withheld" callers? I tried to enter the text in the "Phone #" field but it didn't work. The reason I asked is because callers from landline with caller ID blocked show as "restricted", "private", or "withheld" but telemarketers show as "unknown".
Thanks

If you are using v1.2.2, set Filter Type to "Not in Contacts" and leave the Phone# field empty.
If you are using v2.0 Beta, set Filter Type to "Unknown Number"

Thanks, I'm testing 1.2.2. I set the filter to "Not in Contacts" and Phone # blank but it still blocks "restricted", "private", and "withheld": the log shows it as Anonymous.

I made a mistake. Private calls are treated as unknown calls. You need to add one rule to allow private calls pass through. Here is an example:
Rule name: Rule 1 Rule type: Phone-Inbound Filter type: No Number Action1: Normal
Rule name: Rule 2 Rule type: Phone-Inbound Filter type: Not in Contacts Action1: Hang up
please pay attention to rule's position, Rule1 must be above Rule2 in the list. Hope my answer may help you.

Calls that are not in contacts but have a valid caller ID are also getting hung up.

That's true. The second rule blocks all numbers not in Contacts. But the first rule allows calls w/o a caller ID to pass through. Do you have the first rule set above the second one in the rule list?

Yes, I have the rules in the specified order. I only wanted to block "unknown" callers, is that possible in the current version or will it be possible in the forthcoming version?
Also, SMS from "Unidentified Sender" is getting past the "Not in Contacts" filter.

I am confused. From your posts, you want to allow callers without a caller ID and want to block callers with a caller ID but not in your contacts, am I right? What a "Caller ID" I meant is a phone number, not the name displayed on the screen like "Restricted Caller" or "Private Caller". Calls that are not in contacts but have a valid caller ID are also getting hung up.
Isn't this your needs - blocking unknown callers? The callers are not in your contacts, so they are unknown.

"unknown", "private", "restricted, and "withheld" are the actual text shown on the display. I want to be able to block calls based on what is displayed...if that's possible. By "unknown" I don't mean an unfamiliar phone number.

Hm. It is impossible to filter those names for calls. But for SMS, MagiCall 2.0 can, use the "Sender Name" filter type option.
You may add the following rule to the first place of the rule list to trap callers' phone number, such as "restricted", "private" callers, and then filter these numbers.
Rule type: Phone-Inbound Filter type: All Action1: Normal (or Bypass for v2.0) Action2: Do nothing Notice type: only check Log Events.
When you receive a "restricted call", go to MagiCall's log to check what phone number is captured.

OK. That means "restricted call" does not have a phone number so the first rule should allow it to ring. I think your rules need some adjustmens. Can you send me the rule files. They may be found under folder "\My Documents\MagiCall" if you do not change "Data File Location". Please send them to support(at)mobiion.com
Thanks.

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately, my trial period expired. I'll try it again when the final version 2.0 is released.
