Sorry, my mistake, not to press and hold Center Key. It is pressing the Center Key as well as pressing the Shift key is hold.

Move focus to an edit box -> Press and hold the Shift key -> Press the Center key

I already did that before including press and hold the shift-key, option-key, or caps-lock key while moving the d-pad but no text is selected. only the cursor moves. My shift Key: is 0xC8

I believe this is just a similar problem to the recent poster in this thread where he fixed it by enabling that "fast moving Mode."   If only I can toggle that option but how?  In your instruction it says that I can change the mode by opening the action menu. how?

If you want to select text when moving the cursor, enable "Letter Mode" or "Word Mode". If you only want to fast move the cursor without selecting texts, enable "Fast Move Mode".

To change mode, you must open the Action Menu and then change it. To open the menu, first you should confirm the setting for "Center button" is [Action menu] and "4-way selection" is [On]. Next step, after pressing and holding the key you set in "4-way selection", press the Center Key, the Action Menu should be shown.

What's what I did since the beginning. 4-way selection is "ON" and Center button is "Action Menu"

Next step, after pressing and holding the key you set in "4-way selection", press the Center Key, the Action Menu should be shown.

OK the focus is already in "Action Menu" item inside the combobox. But when I press the center-key it just expand the combobox viewing the "None" item as well! when I press center key again it just shrinks back. No menu is shown.

My Samsung i780 has optical d-pad but it just functions as normal d-pad so it should be compatible with MagiKB.  I also installed AEButtons but it never touches the d-pad area. I also installed chgFingerMouse to quickly toggle between mouse mode and d-pad mode. But i'm always in d-pad mode while configuring MagiKB. Maybe i'll just experiment in disabling some.   I'll just get back after the results..  thanks

In order to pop up Action Menu, you need to move focus to an edit box with a cursor blinking there.

And the key code of the Shift Key for Samsung i780 is not 0xC8 which is only for Treo devices, you need to find out what key code is of the Shift key on your device, by using [Get KeyCode] from menu.

You're right!! I have the wrong shift keycode   Grin
for i780 it's not 0xC8 but rather 0x3B. The text selection now works!
Sadly, action menu won't display  Angry In text area, I press shift & while holding it I press center key but nothing happens whether there is a selection or not.

Is it probably because i780 has also different keycode for the center key??
I tried to detect it in the "Get Key Code" menu but it displays two codes:

0x86
0xD

Is there something wrong with that?? Isn't it supposed to be just the "0xD" alone?

Samsung has an Enter key on its hardware keyboard, you may use that key instead.

It's working now. thanks a lot for the help!  Cheesy Cheesy
I turned-off the Repeat-rate to make text selection smooth But it looses the ability to long press delete key to erase words rapidly  Cry

One last question: Is there a way to lock the SHIFT so that I can select texts with just one hand for the whole operation?

See attachment for the corrected Samsung i780 keyboard mapping and better include it in the installation package.

cheers!  Wink

am doing so. Pressing and holding the shift key, and then moving the 4-way pad. the cursor moves, but without selecting the text. What device do you have? Have you set up the shift key?

What device do you have? Have you set the Shift keycode correctly?
