How does MagiCall count time?

I'm trying the calling card function. After call the number 12345678, when it connects, gives you voive prompt, then you press 1, input card number etc. MagiCall uses "," as pause. Suppose I dial the number 12345678. After 3 seconds, it connects, another 5 seconds of voices prompt , it asking you to press 1. When comes to rule setup, I should use 3+5 or 5 for pause?
