Dear Sir,

I have loaded this onto my AT&T Tilt phone and I must admit that I have no idea how to map the keys.  I did read through the help but still could not figure it out.

I just wanted to say that I think this software has a lot of potential, but needs step by step idiot instructions for mapping your keyboards if mapping can not be provided.

Keep up the good work and I'll keep my eye on this software.

Hi Bonnie,

Here is a key map file for AT&T Tilt from one of our customer. Hope it works for you.
Decompress the file, and copy the lay file to your device folder "\My Documents\MagiKB Lite\".

Thanks.

Edit by admin: I've moved the lay file, please find it from board Additional layout files

The file posted here works as advertised.  100% accuracy with the control keys on my AT&T Tilt.

Thanks for a great product and great support.  You should put that user-donated file in your distribution...

Thanks to the customer who created it.

Cheers,
-Mike

Thanks, Mike.
I agree with you. I will build a new cab today with the tilt keymap file.

Do you know how I can capture the left arrow/comma key for the Tilt?  I don't think it's in the keymap file, and I don't know the hex symbol for it.

. . . . I will build a new cab today with the tilt keymap file.

I am using this also, thought I needed the HookMgr, but that caused the D-Pad and directional keys not to work - uninstalled both, reinstalled just MagiKB Lite, and D-pad and directional keys now work fine.

At first I thought having the comma work on double-tap or long press would be good, but after using the keyboard as is for a while, I think it is best as is - because I need to navigate backwards 1 or 2 or many, and that would get messed up of left arrow key had additional mapping.

The one thing I can't get to map properly, that I would really like, is a key to act as "Control", so I can do CTRL-C, CTRL-X, CTRL-V, CTRL-right arrow, CTRL-left arrow.  I'm trying to assign it to the WIN key - just won't work - I can cause the WIN key to only act as WIN key on Long Press of the key, but can't get short press or double-click to give me fake key of 0x11, which should be CTRL, right?

I believe I will register - totally worth it!
Will there be a Smartphone version?
Thanks for your help

Hi joshnat,

Select [Edit Key-Mapping]>[Add New...], and then follow the instructions below:
1. Change its type to [Vkey]
2. Set focus to field [Key Code]
3. Select [Menu]>[Predefined Codes]>
4. Set its Option Code to the character that you need

But this settings will cause gaps when you use the arrow key to move caret. Because its type is [Vkey], MagiKB cannot use backspace to delete it. It must withhold the key code until timeout.

Hi cushcalc,

It's not a good idea to fake WIN key (0x5B). Windows Mobile combines it with several other keys for special purposes. For example, WIN + LEFT means Left on Rocker, and APP1-4 keys are also combined with WIN key.

I suggest you to use MagiKB's D-pad feature for fast select/copy/past operations. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.  I have been using the D-pad feature, but it is somewhat cumbersome because I have to hit Fn and Cap-Shift before the D-Pad will function as Copy-Paste Menu, and take care to have Cap-Shift in the right mode for using D-Pad normally or for Copy-Paste purposes.  So I don't consider it "fast" for select/copy/paste operations.

I would still prefer if Ctrl could be mapped to a single key, and the WIN key is superflous on the Tilt hardware keyboard because one can always hit the WIN key next to the D-Pad.  BTW, with PqzII I was able to map Ctrl to the WIN key and it worked great, I did not experience any conflicts.

Thanks for your reply, though.  I really like the program in all other respects, and I did purchase it because it is definitely worth it to me!
