This is the great key mapping tool for my Samsung Blackjack and I love it. It's still very difficult to view all the menu properly for 320x240 screen, but I managed to configure custom key mapping. After few days trial, I purchased it today and tried to register, but failed. Here is the error message.
H/W: Samsung Blackjack OS: Windows Mobile 5 Purchased version: MagiKB Lite 1.1 Error Message when click to change owner (because it shows null name) "Alert Can't find 'ctlpnl' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available."
Please help to get my owner name properly.
p.s. one minor bug Symptom: Hold key for option 1 always leads a backspace key. I have to type any key in advance like space and need to use hold option 1. I'm a registered user from Handango.

Thank you. This program was designed for PocketPC, so it might have some little issues for working on Smartphone. My answers to your questions are below:
1. You can set or change your device owner name by selecting [Start]>[Settings]>[Owner Information] and by typing it into the [Name] field. Please note that the name is case-sensitive.
2. I've just tested it on a Smartphone device and I experienced the same problem. I think the IME program processed the key events perior MagiKB Lite. I will try to fix the issue in a future version. Thanks.
Regards

This is the only post I've been able to find concerning this error. I am having the same error. This orignal post was almost 2 years ago...have there not been any updates since then? Why don't you guys offer magikb lite for smartphone? It's an awesome prog for the PPC, and have used it (gratefully) on my old phone. But now I have a non-touch screen and it works fine on it...but I just can't register! It won't allow me to change my Owner name in the About tab (it's showing up blank, despite my going to Start-->Settings-->Owner Information and setting my owner name there). I've paid for this prog because it works otherwise just fine on my phone. How can I register it now?? HTC Ozone, WM 6.1

HTC Ozone, WM 6.1 You have to use a registry editor to add a string named "SN" to the following key [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MagiKB Lite] "SN"="12345" Replace 12345 with your registry code.

Tried it, did a soft reset, and still won't work. I'm still getting the 7-day trial expiration notice. MagiKB will let me enter my registration code, it just wont let me change my Owner name. If I try just putting my code in (with the null owner), I get an error stating my code doesn't match my owner name. Does MagiKB store the owner name under the same registry key you gave me? Perhaps another string I can add in addition to the one above?

No, MagiKB Lite doesn't set or store your owner name. Please set your device owner name by selecting [Start]>[Settings]>[Owner Information], and put your owner name in the [Name] text box.
Please note that the name is case-sensitive.

But that's my issue--as stated above, I did that already. I've set the Owner Name in my phone (I understand it is case-sensitive), but it does not show up in MagiKB, nor will MagiKB let me change it (when I click the change button next to my null Owner Name in MagiKB, I get the above "ctlpnl" error). So I followed the instructions given to me to edit the registry, but it does not work. MagiKB is still saying my trial period has expired. The issue seems to be with my Owner Name, not my registration code. I can't set my name in MagiKB..

I got it now. I had a tool to set owner name for MagiKB Lite. I will attach it here later.

Here it is. http://www.mobiion.com/SetOwnerName.zipDownload the file to your PC, decompress it, and copy the executable file to your device, and then launch it on your device to setup the owner name.
